Hi Friends,

Welcome back to the blog! finally got some time to start the summer cocktail series! I will be sharing very yummy recipes! The first one is a “Mezcal Paloma” inspired by Lulu’s.

Summer drinks is all about refreshing, colorful, citrus cocktails won’t you agree? Paloma’s are usually made with tequila.

I remember my parents making it in parties with tequila and “Freska” a grapefruit soda if you are from México or have Mexican parents you know haha but I love this particular one because is made with Mezcal.

There’s something about Mezcal, maybe the smoky flavor! so if you are into it you will love this drink. without any further ado let’s get to the recipe (emoji drooling) …

Ingredients

PORTIONS ONE COCKTAIL ( SO OBVI DOUBLE, TRIPLE, DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO!) :

2 oz mezcal ( we like 400 conejos)

2 oz pink grapefruit Italian soda

2 oz fresh grapefruit juice

1 oz simple syrup

Sparkling water to top off the drink

Grapefruit to garnish

Sea salt flakes

Lime wedge

** Personally we like a spicy drink so you can add some cayenne pepper powder to the rim of your drink and with the salt.

Directions

STEP 1:

Wipe the rim of the glass with a lime wedge and then roll in the salt flakes (optional to add some cayenne pepper).

STEP 2:

Combine mezcal , Italian ( San Pellegrino, yes it’s Italian Ana haha sorry inside joke) soda, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup (personally not necessary if you don’t like sweet drinks) into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until the shaker is cold.

** Tip add the San Pellegrino after you shaken the drink, if not it will spill all over :D

STEP 3:

Pour mixture into the salted glass and pour a few splashes of sparkling water to top off the cocktail.

STEP 4:

Top with a slice of grapefruit and CHEERS!

You can add a drop of grapefruit essential oil for more flavor ( I only recommend Young Living EO, duh)
